Leona (Smentek) Zeigler

       Leona Zeigler, age 82 of Chesterton, IN, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2024.  She was born on November 1, 1941 in Chicago, IL to Frank and Katherine (Koski) Smentek, both of whom preceded her in death.  

       She is survived by her loving sons: Ralphie (the late Kori Barnett) Zeigler, Ricky (Sue) Zeigler, Robbie (Stacy) Zeigler, Reed (Colleen) Zeigler, and Reggie (Gini) Zeigler; her treasured grandchildren: Angela Kohler (husband Nick), Donna, Karl Joseph, Timmy Barnett (wife Kim); her siblings, Shirley Case and Lenny; and was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.

       In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph Zeigler Sr. in January of 2002; her beloved grandchildren: Christina Sarelli, Aaron, and Karl Regis; and by her siblings: Joan Gullick (husband the late Travis), Richie (wife Cookie), and Tommy (wife the late Laurie).

       Leona was a loving mother who devoted her whole life to raising her sons. She was a devout Catholic and worshiped at Saint Mary's in the Bridgeport Neighborhood of Chicago. In her free time, she loved to read and was a faithful Wheel Watcher. She loved spending time with the newest addition to the family - her grandson Karl Joseph.
 
       Services will not be held per her wishes. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Catholic Charities in memory of Leona Zeigler.
